Thoughts, Quotes and Scriptures on Mentoring

By Barbara Goodroe

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.- Titus 2:3-5

Hi! In college, the campus ministry had a component called discipleship, in which we met with a campus minister and she (or he for the males) shared wisdom, time, laughs, tears, or whatever we needed. This process, although I fought it at the beginning, helped me tremendously in my relationship with God! Since I have graduated (2 years in December), I have seen such relationships missing in my area, and most youth do not know what a relationship with God is outside of going to church on Sunday. I believe that discipleship or mentoring is a wonderful idea and concept, but I have not had the time nor confidence to do it with a full-time job, graduate school, and getting married. Lord, I pray that you can rearrange my schedule so that I can spend time with youth and show them how You can permeate through every aspect of their lives! I pray for confidence in living and speaking Your truth and wisdom to youth!
Thank you for the post!
